ANNEXURE & 1DETAILED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR SUPPLY, FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION OF FIRE TRUCK APPARATUS & LADDER TYPE ON VOLVO FM 400 4x2 RIGID FIRE FIGHTING TRUCK.APPARATUS TYPEThe apparatus will be classified as An Aerial Apparatus & Ladder type and will be equipped with a permanently mounted fire pump which has a minimum rated capacity of 1500 gallons per minute (6000 Lmin). The apparatus will include a water tank and hose body whose primary purpose is to combat structural and associated fires. The apparatus shall be equipped with a rear mount aerial ladder, Turn Table and water tower.FIRE APPARATUSThis shall be constructed on Volvo chassis as per the measurements furnished in the drawing (Annexure 2).AXLE CONFIGURATIONThe chassis will offer a single rear drive axle with a single front steer axle configuration (4x2). (Chassis will be supplied by UTL to your work site, as a free issue).GAWR FRONT The gross apparatus weight rating as per Volvo chassis and the gross capacity weight rating will be adequate to carry the weight of equipment and the apparatus, with water tanks full and other tanks at full capacity, miscellaneous equipment and all personnel weights considered as recommended by the most current edition of NFPA 1901.The chassis front gross axle weight rating (GAWR) will be 20000 pounds 9000 kg)GAWR REARThe chassis rear gross axle weight rating (GAWR) will be 31000 pounds or 14100 kg.PUMP PROVISIONThe chassis will include provisions to mount a drive line pump in the middle of the chassis, behind the cab, more commonly known as the midship location.WATER TANK CAPACITYThe chassis will include a carrying capacity of up to 1000 gallons (4540 liters). The water tank will be supplied and installed by the apparatus manufacturer.CAB STYLEThe cab will be an enclosed model as per Volvo FM 400 4x2 Rigid.OEM CUSTOM WIRING The wiring system shall include a custom interface harness provided by the aerial device manufacturer which shall include the select aerial device controls. The wiring system shall also include switches on the dash in the case of a Pumper vehicle and no switches on the dash for a Rescue style vehicle.APPARATUS WIRING PANEL An apparatus wiring panel shall be installed on the officer side bulkhead below the dash which shall include (8) each open circuits with three (3) each 20.00 amp, (1) each 30.00 amp, (3) each 10 amp and (1) each 15 amp relay and breaker with trigger wires which shall be connected to the rocker switch panel.VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMThe chassis will include a single starting electrical system which shall include 12 volt direct current system, suppressed per SAE J551. The wiring shall be appropriate gauge cross link with 311 degree Fahrenheit insulation. All SAE wires in the chassis shall be color coded and shall include the circuit number and function where possible. The wiring shall be protected by 275 degree Fahrenheit minimum high temperature flame retardant loom.ENGINE The power plant for the vehicle shall offer a high pressure performance, turbo charged engine which shall feature a high pressure common rail fuel system. This system shall be coupled a turbo which shall deliver performance at ratings Max 400 HP. ENGINE COOLING SYSTEMThere will be a heavyduty cooling system designed to meet the demands of the fire industry. The cooling system will have the capacity to keep the engine properly cooled under all conditions of road and pumping operation.TRANSMISSIONThe transmission gear ratios will be as per Volvo chassis.POWER STEERINGThe vehicle will have power steering.FIRE SINGLE STAGE PUMPA single stage pump shall be designed to mount in a pump module and shall be splitdrive shaft driven. The pump shall be driven by a driveline from the truck transmission. The engine shall provide sufficient horse power and RPM to enable the pump to meet and exceed its rated performance.The entire pump, suction and discharge passages shall be hydrostatically tested to a pressure of 600 PSI. the pump shall be tested at the pump manufacturer€„¢s factory to the performance specs as outlined by the applicable sections of the NFPA 1901 standard. The pump shall be free from objectionable pulsation and vibration.1500 GPM FIRE PUMP SPECIFICATIONS The centrifugal type fire pump shall have a rated capacity of 1500 GPM. The pump shall meet NFPA 1901 requirements.The pump shall be certified to meet the following:1500 *@********************
